One for sports

Dublin v. Cork at Hill 16

I have never been the most avid sports fan. I once went to a Wolverhampton v. Plymouth Argyle football match (only because I was staying with a footie-mad friend) and the highlights of the whole thing were the pie, and hearing someone shout 'Com on me babbies' in an accent that was more Brummie than I could have ever possibly dreamed.
I was reasonably proficient at hockey and athletics in school; enough to make it onto the teams, but not enough to really inspire future generations of athletes. I like rugby, but only really at international level, and watched some of the Olympics if I happened to be near a television, but that's always done with more love of Team GB than whatever sport it is.
So I was as surprised as anyone else to find how much fun I had watching a GAA quarter final, cheering at the top of my voice and shouting (mild) abuse whenever the team messed up. It probably helps that the Dubs won, but who knew someone still described frequently as 'Very English' could get on so well on 'Dublin Only' Hill 16?!
