I just looked through the '22 Unbelievable Places that are Hard to Believe they Really Exist' (a nice round title!) ... it's amazing what nature can achieve. It still kicks the ass of any film set I've seen; just like some of the creatures you find deep deep down in the sea looking weirder and more unlikely than anything you find in Science Fiction!
